Veterans Flag Raising Memorial Program

Veterans Flag Raising Memorial

At Sharp Funeral Homes, we are proud to do our part in honoring our country's veterans and giving back to those whose sacrifice and patriotism define our great nation. We designed our Veteran's Flag Raising Memorial Program to remember the service and sacrifice of our community’s veterans.

Each month, we will honor the life and memory of a veteran by raising the flag at one of our chapels in their memory. Each of our four chapels will display a framed biography of the veteran for the entire month, and the family of the veteran will receive a certificate of participation. We will also share each biography on our website and social media pages. To view all veterans we have honored through our program, visit our Memorial Program Veterans page

What We Would Need From You

If you would like to honor your loved one through the Veteran’s Flag Raising Memorial Program, please send us the following:

  • A biography of the veteran you wish to recognize
  • A photo we can reproduce to include with the biography. The best image would be a headshot in military dress, but any photo would do.

Writing Your Veteran’s Biography

Details should include:

  • Full name
  • Home town
  • Branch of service
  • Years of service, including enter and exit dates
  • Any medals or recognition awarded
  • Rank upon leaving the military
  • Any detailed description of activity during the service. Where stationed, duties, responsibilities.
  • Please share any personal stories of the time your loved one served, or how they talked about their experience. The more detail the better.
  • Life information, birth and death dates, marriage information, children, grandchildren, siblings.

Please send your loved one’s completed biography by mail to Sharp Funeral Homes, 209 E. Broad Street, Linden, MI 48451, or by email to jcoldwell@sharpfuneralhomes.com. Please call us at (810) 694-4900 with any questions you might have. We look forward to honoring your loved one’s life and service in this way.
