He then furthered his education with a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University and later, a MBA from the University of Michigan, Flint.
Russ and Sheryl met in 1985 (it was "B'shert") and married the following years. They have two children, Michael and Julie, and grandson, Jaxon.
Russ had been active in the Jewish Community, and the community at large for many decades. Starting at Temple Beth El, Flint, Russ had numerous positions of leadership including Secretary, VP and President.
No service at Temple Beth El would be complete without hearing Russ' beautiful voice, like his cherished father Bernie, of Blessed Memory.
As President of the Flint Jewish Federation, Russ was involved in the development of the new federation office. He was also instrumental in bringing The Hebrew free loan program to Flint. Russ helped develop ways to ensure an ongoing financial presence via legacy gifts to the community. Life and Legacy, via the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, will help ensure this ongoing commitment.
Russ has been a financial planner for over 20 years. The name of his company, Quality of Life Planners, truly embodies his philosophy for bringing Quality of Life to his clients and the greater community. Russ was also president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Professionals in Genesee County. As a board member and leader at the University of Michigan, Flint Alumni Society, he helped organize many events that benefited the community at large, including Back to the Bricks.
He will be forever missed by Sheryl, his beloved wife. Michael, Julie, and Jaxon will dearly miss their father and grandfather. Russ loved them very much. Additional loved ones are his sister Michelle (Dr. Alan) Angel, their children Dr. Chelsea Angel (Dan), Sydney and Andrew Angel, his brother, Stuart Deutsch (Lauren Wolf) and son, Aaron Deutsch, and cousin Shelley Lipson,
lifelong friend Bob Arnoff, in addition to numerous other cousins around the country.
Russ always said that he would live to be 120 years old. He always will in my heart and every fiber of my being.
