BESSO, John David - Age 73, of Swartz Creek, died Monday November 8, 2021. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream of the service will be available on John's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Scott Statson officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 11 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Voices of Children or Humane Society of Genesee County. John was born June 5, 1948 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the son of Herbert Edgar and June Audrey (Kemp) Besso. He graduated from Woburn High School in Canada and received an Bachelor's of Science from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He married Barbara Anne Bennett April 24, 1971 in Lemonville, Ontario, Canada. He had resided in Swartz Creek since 2008 coming from Grand Blanc/Dearborn. John retired from Lockhart Chemical as a Chemical Engineer; and had also previously worked for Detrex Chemical in Detroit. He was a member of Way Church of Michigan in Fenton (formerly Potter's Wheel Church) and he was a former member of Kirkridge Presbyterian Church in Grand Blanc. He also was a Board Member and Past Chairman of the Education Foundation; Member and Past President of the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce; Founding Member of Vision 2020 Foundation; Member of the Greater Flint Rotary Club; Member of the Flint Elks Club #222; and a Member of The Legends of Orton Park. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Surviving are: his wife, Barbara Anne; children, Laurenda Harvey of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, Adam(Amber) Besso of Pontiac, Geoffrey (Amy) Besso of Hudson, and Leslie (Kelly) Gage of Grand Blanc; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Murphy of Barryville, New Brunswick, Canada, Judy (Chris) Terry of Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, and Nancy (Kaz) Klonowski of Haliburton, Ontario, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
