HOGAN, Woodrow E. "Woody" -- Age 94, of Linden, died December 28, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, December 31 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Internment in Fairview Cemetery, Linden, with VFW Curtis Wolverton Post 3243 Honor Guard service. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Tuesday, 2-5 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. There will be a 7:30 PM Vigil service Wednesday evening followed by a VFW Memorial service under the auspices of Linden VFW Post 4642. Those desiring may make contributions to the A. Carlene Hogan Trust Fund. Mr. Hogan was born July 27, 1915 in Deerfield Township the son of Edward and Emma (Trollman) Hogan. He was a graduate of Linden High School and a lifetime resident of the Linden area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. Mr. Hogan married A. Carlene Stehle on February 12, 1947 in Fenton. Mr. Hogan owned and operated Donaven's market for 35 years with his partner Doug Donaven. He then worked for Phillips Realty and was a residential builder for 29 years. Mr. Hogan was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the St. John Parish Ushers Club, and the K of C. He was a member of the Linden VFW Post 4642 and the American Legion. He served as the chairman of the building committee for the Linden VFW when their hall was being built. Mr. Hogan served two terms on the Linden Village Council and was past president of the Linden Kiwanis. He was also a member of the Even Dozen Investment Club. Surviving are: wife, A. Carlene; four children, Dennis Hogan of Swartz Creek, Cheryl and husband Sam Hubbell of Swartz Creek, Janice and husband Randy Hoover of Grand Blanc, Thomas E. and wife Darcy A. Hogan of Linden; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Francis and Martin; and sisters, Bridget "Betty" Hollenback, Beatrice Scheitler, Theresa Donaven, and Mary Hill. The family extends a special thanks to Mr. Hogan's Euchre buddies, VFW comrades, the Even Dozen Investment Club, Genesys medical staff and the loving care of Linda Dotson.
