SWAFFORD, Winnie Ruth - Age 58, of Flint, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint, with Pastor Esther Irish officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of service. Winnie was born May 26, 1951 in Calhoun, GA, the daughter of J.C. and Syble (Richardson) Swafford. She had resided in Flint since 1955 coming from Calhoun, GA. She was a 1969 graduate of Carmen High School and had attended Mott Community College. Winnie enjoyed spending time with her great nephews and nieces. She traveled the state with friends and was known to visit the casino nearest to where they stayed. Winnie was very active in the community where she lived her entire life, around the Dimond United Methodist Church, and the Carmen-Ainsworth Senior Center. She will be especially missed by the youngest great nephews and nieces with whom she spent many hours entertaining and taking care of. To older kids and friends in the neighborhood she was affectionately known as Aunt Winnie or Wink. She was an active member of Dimond United Methodist Church. Surviving are: mother, Syble Swafford of Flint; 2 sisters, Carol and husband Richard Isaacson of Swartz Creek and Marsha and husband Jerry Douglas of Grand Blanc; nephews and nieces, Christopher and wife Teresa Lamb, Timothy and wife Becky Isaacson, Jeri Gates, Tamara and husband Jason Brown, Jeffrey and wife Debby Isaacson, Jennifer Douglas, Jessica and husband James Eldredge; great-nieces and great-nephews, Gabrielle, Jackson, Dakota, Darby, Savannah, Saxton, Joslyn, Abigail, Kylie, Conner, Emma, Jared, William, Lucas and Sara; several aunts, uncles, and many loved neighbors and friends.
