HARDENBURG, Willis C. - Age 77, of Laredo, Texas, formerly of Flint, died Saturday, September 30, 2006 in Texas. Funeral services will be 12 PM Saturday, October 7 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Interment in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc with military honors under the auspices of Swartz Creek AMVETS/VFW Post 3720 Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday, 1-3 and 5-8 PM Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Willis was born December 13, 1928 in Montrose the son of Lewis and Lyla Hardenburg. He was a 1947 graduate of Dye High School and was the Valedictorian and Class President. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served three years in the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Post Office after 31 years of service. He was a union steward, President of the Postal Clerk Union, a Postal International Benefit Representative, and President of the Postal Credit Union Employees. He was a lifelong mason and a member of the American Legion. Willis enjoyed and was an 'ace' card player. He became a 'jack of all trades.' He liked people and had many friends. Willis was a loyal, honest, and good man who will be sadly missed by many. Surviving are: son Kevin B. and wife Mary of Swartz Creek; daughter Nancy A. and husband Ferman Chapa of Laredo, TX; three grandchildren, Monica, Ferman, and Jason; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lewis and wife Dorothy, Elwood and wife Jeanie, Neil and wife Shirley, Curtis, Mavis Merrill, Audrey Kirby, Kay Comfort, Kay and husband Mike Shannon, Judy and husband George Bowren; sister-in-law, June and Don Moritz; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
