William "Bill" O'Brien

O'BRIEN, William Clare "Bill" - Age 93, of Linden, died Wednesday, May 11, 2022. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May17 from 1:00 - 4:00, a V.F.W. Memorial Service will be held at 4:00, followed immediately by the Funeral Service at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream of the service will be available on Bill's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com).  Pastor Donald Neuville officiating.  Those desiring may make contributions to the Michigan Foundation for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Bill was born in Linden, Michigan to the son of George and Hila ( Dennis) O'Brien.  He proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII.  He married Sally Lou Whitney in 1950 and then to Marilyn (Tamlyn) in December 1986 until her death in August 2004.   Bill retired in 1980  from General Motors V8 after 32 years of service.  He had happy feet and loved to stay busy. He was well known for his repair work on small engines. He took the necessary steps to be a building inspector for the local communities and also became a dispatcher for D.V.  He loved sharing his knowledge with kids as he worked many years for the Boy Scouts and was the Cub Master during the 70’s.  Bill shared his love of golf every week with his brothers.  He also loved solving the world problems with his lunch buddies every week.

Surviving are children Tom and (Connie) O'Brien, Cathy and (Floyd) Jackson, and Robert O'Brien. His step-children, Jo Taylor, Dave and (Teresa) Taylor, Karen and (Ed) Nowaczyk, many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. His sisters Vada Masak, brother-in-law, Don Harwood and sisters-in-law Arlene O’Brien and Margaret O'Brien

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn, brothers, Robert, Chester, and Harold, sister Jane Harwood, sister-in-law Edna and brothers-in-law Doug Masak and Merill Harris.

A special thank you to Jessica, Bill’s Angel from Hospice, and the staff at Maple Wood Manor.  They went above and beyond the call of care to make him feel like their family.
