VARGO, William - age 79, of Flint, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, with Pastor Joel Stiff officiating. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Saturday and 11 AM until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to McLaren Hospice. Mr. Vargo was born March 26, 1929 in Chesaning, the son of Joseph and Erma (Marchellkoa) Vargo. He retried from General Motors in 1980 after 31 years of service. Mr. Vargo was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was a five time World Champion pipe smoker and had held the World Record. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Mr. Vargo helped those that he could and was a friend to all that met him. Surviving are: two sons, Craig and wife Kim of Flint, Dean and wife, Kay of Lenexa, KS; five grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Nerchel and Barbara Peterson; brother, John.
