William Franklin Teel

TEEL, William Franklin - age 89 of Flint, formerly of Ramsay, MI, passed away November 28, 2024. Funeral Service 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek. Visitation 1:00 PM until the time- of -service Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place on a later date at Bluff View Cemetery, Bessemer, MI. Memorial contributions in William's memory would be appreciated to The Garrett E. Ebmeyer Trumpet Scholarship c/o UM-Flint Music Department.

William graduated from Flint Central High School in 1954. He attended Michigan State University (MSU) and furthered his education at the University of Michigan. He retired from Buick Motor division after 38 years of service. William was an accomplished musician who could play the clarinet and saxophone, but he preferred to play the oboe and English horn. He performed for over 50 years with the Flint Symphonic Wind Ensemble, founded by his longtime friend Donald C. Clough. William was a proud member of the MSU Alumni Band and performed with The Flint Concert Band under Garrett Ebmeyer. He also performed with the Jackson Symphony and during the 4th of July, performed with the Gogebic Range Concert Band in Bessemer, MI. His love of music and performing was contagious, with many of his family members learning to play instruments and being involved with music. William was a member of the Finnish Club and The Flint Federation of Musicians. He positively impacted the lives of many as a generous philanthropist.

William is survived by his children, Suzanne (Mike) Leidi, Steven G. Teel, Bill L. Teel, Frances L. Coha, and David V. Teel; grandchildren, Shannon, Heather, Sarah, Krista, Carole, Andrew, Bryan, Austin, Julia, Will, and Tiffany; seven great grandchildren; brother, Brian G. (Linda) Teel; former wife, Nancy Teel.
