SHILLING, W. Frank  Age 101, died peacefully at home on March 5, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. John Vianney Church, 2415 Bagley St, Flint. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint, and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to the St. John Vianney Catholic Church Memorial Fund. William Franklin Shilling was born on January 26, 1909, in West Unity, Ohio, the son of Joseph E. and Grace Shilling. He married Anne T. Zaborowski on January 1, 1938, and they had been married for 63 years when she died in 2001. He attended Davis Business College in Toledo. He worked for Swift & Company for 44 years, and was also the accountant for Abbott's Meat, Inc. until retiring at age 82. He was a member of United Commercial Travelers and was a former Senior Counselor of that organization. He hunted pheasants in South Dakota every year for over 50 years, first with his father and brothers and later with his nephews. He was an avid golfer and a 50-year member of Genesee Hills Golf Club. He played at nearly every golf course within a 50-mile radius of Flint, and also played at courses in Mississippi and Florida. He scored a hole-in-one 4 times. He bowled in a league for many years and was an excellent pool player even at age 101. He was a good father and a wonderful husband. He is survived by 2 daughters, Linda (David) LaMoreaux of Ann Arbor and Sandra (Michael) Munger of Grand Blanc; 4 grandchildren, Audrey(Denis) Kerrigan, Claire Munger, Brian LaMoreaux, and Sarah LaMoreaux; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Kerrigan; one sister, Virginia Yager; 3 sisters-in-law, Krystyne Newcombe, Dorothy (Joe) Kokoczka, and Blake Shilling; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Anne, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan; his parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Peter Thoms, Vicki Boone, Kim Herrick, and Shane and Katie Tallmadge for the years of loving care they provided.
