POWERS, William M. - Age 91, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 in Libby, Montana. William was born July 20, 1918 in Nashua, New Hampshire to Percy and Mary Alice (Innis) Powers. After Percy died, Bill was raised by his mother and stepfather, George Fletcher. Bill served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 8th Air Corps, 305th Bomb Group for 3 1/2 years during World War II. He worked for AC Spark Plug in Flint for over 44 years. William was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; brother, George Powers; sister, Alice Ely; and special friend, Lucille LeVasseur. He is survived by special friend, Ruth Penoskie; daughter, Kathleen and husband Richard Wernham of Libby, Montana; granddaughter, Rebecca, Texas; sister, Scottie Calhoun of Ann Arbor; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Rev. G. Patrick England will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be 3-8PM Tuesday.
