SMITH, William (Bill) Michael, age 75, of Fenton, passed away, Friday, July 19, 2019, at McLaren Hospital in Flint. In accordance with William's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11 AM, Monday, July 29, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Fenton, 503 S. Leroy St, Fenton, MI 48430. Pastor Robbie Carnes will officiate with burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 28, 2019, from 2 PM to 9 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, 1000 Silver Lake Rd, Fenton, MI 48430 and on Monday at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Old Newsboys of Flint or First Presbyterian Church of Fenton.
He was born on March 10, 1944, in Flint, the son of Cecil and Marie (Steier) Smith. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1968. He was married in 1966 to Martha Gaches. He worked for General Motors as a Pipe Fitter for 38 years before his retirement. He was a licensed FAA mechanic. Bill was a loving husband and father who loved spending his time with his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and was a model train hobbyist.
William is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Smith, four children; David Smith (Sherry), Steven Smith, Catherine Smith, Laura Kinser, six grandchildren; Evan, Demi, Tyler, Emily, Kara, Jacob, great-grandson; Landon, and sisters; Joan Weglarski, Mary Lou (Robert) Mann, Patricia Smith, Cecilia (John) Schlosser. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Marie Smith.
