William Claude McRORIE

McRORIE, William (Bill) Claude - Age 86, of Flint, died Monday, January 4, 2010. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastor Paul Ytterock officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St, Flint, MI 48502 or Whaley Children's Center, 1201 N. Grand Traverse Road, Flint, MI 48503. Bill was born April 7, 1923 in Flint, the son of Claude and Lucille "Roxie" (Davis) McRorie. He graduated from Flint Central High School and GMI (Kettering). He was a B-24 bomber pilot based in England during WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He married Shirley Jean Chadderdon November 15, 1943 at First Presbyterian Church of Flint. Bill retired in 1981 from Buick after 38 years of service, where he was director of industrial safety, hygiene and workers compensation. He was a member, elder and deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Flint and the president of the Saginaw Valley Safety Association. He loved tennis, duck hunting and golf. Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Shirley; 4 children, Linda Chadderdon of East Lansing, Marsha and husband Craig Lesley of Brighton, Teresa Bennett of Palm Springs, FL and Scott and wife Cathy McRorie of Flushing; 7 grandchildren, Richard and wife Sue Lesley, Allen P. Chadderdon, Julia Lesley, Scott and wife Sharon McRorie, Michael McRorie and Tina Arwood, Adam and wife Ashley Keen and Ashley and husband Danny Partin; 10 great grandchildren, Makayla, Miya, Scott III, Khaley, Owen, Amanda, Payton, Michael II, Elaina and Raegan.
