Lurvey, William Harold - Age 78, of Linden, formerly of Swartz Creek, died September 27, 2021. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint, Fr. Thomas Firestone celebrant. Interment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Wednesday, September 29 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, and 10-11 AM at St. John Vianney on Thursday, September 30. Those desiring may make contributions to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
William was born January 3, 1943 in Flint the son of William Edward Lurvey and Norma (Rose) Lurvey. He was a graduate of Flint Northern High School class of 1960. Following he attended Flint Jr. College. Bill married Margaret "Maggie" Corcoran on September 18, 1963. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. He retired from Chevy V8 with 44 years of service as a Tool and Die maker and Gauge Repair Specialist. Bill was mechanically talented and self taught in many trades. He had a love for cars, especially Corvettes, and restoring old cars. He loved to play Euchre and was a Euchre Club Icon and Champion. He was accomplished in the Art of Stained Glass. For many years he enjoyed a strong golf game and passed that along to his son. He was a natural pool shark and passed that skill along to all of his children. William enjoyed spending time with his brothers Eldon and Wyman as well as taking in a bowling game with his Northern Classmates. He was a devoted family man who cherished his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving are: wife of 58 years, Maggie; four children, Beth (Ken) Dunn of Dyersburg, TN, Kris (Scott) McNiel of Fenton, Shari (Eric) Warezak of Grosse Pointe, David (Heather) Lurvey of Linden; grandchildren, Lindsey Dunn, Amanda Dunn, Taylor Dunn, Spencer Warezak, Ryan Warezek, Emma Lurvey, Drew Lurvey; brothers Wyman (Sally) Lurvey, Eldon (Georgeann) Lurvey; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat Clancey. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons.
