William Lucas Ii

LUCAS, William Charles, II - age 71, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, November 18, 2016 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. Services will be held 11 AM Monday, November 21, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. William was born April 23, 1945 in Flint the son of William Charles and Dorothy (Dmoch) Lucas. He married Kathleen Emery on February 21, 1969. William was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a drill sergeant during Vietnam. He retired from General Motors in Organizational Development and held many U.A.W. positions including Local 599 Retiree Chapter Chairman. He was a long serving Genesee County Parks Commissioner and served on many other local boards. William worked tirelessly and endlessly to provide a fair and just life for all. Surviving are: wife, Kathy Lucas of Mt. Morris; three daughters, Lori (Mike) Bernard of Flint, Alicia (Richard) Baldwin of Grand Blanc, Billie Marie (Jason) Oyler of Flint; two sons, Douglas William Briggs of Mt. Morris, Darin Briggs of Mt. Morris; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one and a half great great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Jim) Baliko; brother, John (Frank DeFranco) Lucas; brother-in-law, George (Judy) Emery; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, William C. Lucas, III; and sister, Marie Lucas. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
