William J. HERLIHY

HERLIHY, William John -- Age 87, of Linden, MI, formerly of Manchester, CT, died September 28, 2009. Private services will be held with entombment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Mr. Herlihy was born January 27, 1922 in NY, NY, the son of William and Mary (McEntee) Herlihy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in WWII. He married Dorothy Lavina DeFreest on April 8, 1943 and she preceded him in death May 19, 2003. Mr. Herlihy retired in 1987 from Pratt and Whitney where he worked as an Experimental Test Operator on jet engines. Surviving are: two children, Timothy and wife Sandy of Port St. Lucie, FL, Christine and husband John Hugener of Linden; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother James and wife Nettie of New York; several nieces and nephews.
