William Lee Hanson

January 19, 1948 — January 24, 2004

Hanson, William Lee- Age 56, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Lapeer Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes; Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.  Fr. Gary McInnis officiating.  Burial in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6-9PM Tuesday and 1-4 and 6-9PM Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the William Lee Hanson Memorial Fund.  William was born January 19, 1948 in Flint, the son of Lee E. and Gwendolyn A. (Smith) Hanson.  He married Sally Ann Steihr July 23, 1965 in Flint and has resided in Swartz Creek the past 8 years coming from Flint.  He retired from Buick Motor Division as an experimental mechanic in 2002 with 35 years of service, and served as a committeeman for many years for U.A.W. Local 599.  He graduated from Baker College in 2001, summa cum laude.  Bill was everybodys helping hand.  Surviving are:  wife, Sally Ann; daughter, Amy Hanson of Flint; 3 grandchildren, Ashley, William and Tiffani; mother, Gwendolyn and husband Haden Frank of Prudenville; son-in-law, Mark VanDorn of Swartz Creek; 2 sisters, Kathy and husband Ed Huot of Fenton, Karen Townsend of Grand Blanc; 3 sisters-in-law, Susan and husband Michael Beattie of Flint, Terry and husband Gary Davidson of St. Helen, Toby Steihr of Flint; brother-in-law, Thomas Steihr of Flint; special friend, Rocky; many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Stephanie and father, Lee.  Friends may share their online condolences for the family at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
