William Edward HANSFORD

September 4, 1930 — May 2, 2010

HANSFORD, William (Bill) age 79, passed away May 2, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. Bill was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 4, 1930 to the late Witt and Marjorie Hansford. He grew up in the Flint, Michigan area. Bill graduated from Kearsley High School. After graduation, he joined the Army and served honorably in the Korean War. Upon returning to the Flint area Bill worked at Sanford House of Interior Design. There he began his training in Interior design. After studying at an art school in Maine he made his way to California in 1960 where he made his life for 46 years. In Los Angeles Bill worked for the May Company traveling the world, buying antiques and furnishings for sale as well as window dressings. Bill would have considered the happiest 20 years of his life when we ran Oak Grove Gifts in LaCanada California that he co-owned with James Garrett. Bill spent the last 4 years of his life in complete retirement living in Grand Blanc, Michigan where he enjoyed gardening and landscaping his home. Bill is survived by Brother, Carlyle Hansford and Sister, Dorothy Rosel both of Green Cove Springs, Florida. Special people he considered family, Sue Yount and her husband Donald, who loved him like a brother. And by many other Nieces and Nephews, and Great Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 15, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Home 6030 Fenton Road, Flint. Rev. Glenn Gardner will officiate with burial to follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc, Michigan. The family will receive visitors before the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bill was a gentle loving man who was loved by all who knew him. We will deeply miss his presence.
