William Dillon

William E. Dillon, age 87, of Fenton,  died September 13, 2022.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday September 19 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc. (A live stream of the funeral service will be available to be viewed at William's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.) Visitation will be held 3-6 PM Sunday September 18, and 10 AM until the time of the funeral at 10 AM Monday September 19. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Bill was born May 27, 1935 in Roanoke, VA.  He is the son of the late Henry and Macie Dillion.  Bill was raised in Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1953.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and served until August, 1978.  Bill was a poet and author of 4 books and as a teenager watched the "sky filled" formation of ACFT Flying overhead and picked his lifetime ambition of flying airplanes, however he failed the eye test so he became an ACFT Master Sargent Maintenance Superintendent working on all ACFT aircraft,  from T-6 to 6000.  His last assignment was at Andrews AFB in Washington, DC.  He was the Maintenance Superintendent at 89 O.M.S., home of Air Force One and other congressional dignitaries.  Bill was awarded many medals during his 23 year AF career including two tours of Vietnam.  He also worked 20 years as an appliance salesman in his later years.  Also, during his later years, he traveled extensively in his RV with Gail (his 2nd wife) and always said "I did it my way" (and he did).  Bill is survived by daughter Robin Dillon; son Michael Dillon;  and stepchildren Jon Griffin and Family; Sara Griffin and Family; Dr. Dori Tamagne and Family.  He lived all over the USA and overseas during his lifetime.  He has now joined his late family and friends but he left this world a better place.  RIP Bill.
