William Basista

BASISTA, William Edward -- Age 89, of Flint, died August 24, 2016. Services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, August 30 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 10 AM until time of service on Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to a Hospice of One's Choice. William was born November 15, 1926 in Wheeling, WV the son of Stephen and Rose (Lucas) Basista. He married Mary Hebert. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1944-47. He retired in 1985 from GM Chevy Plant 4 with 30 years of service. He enjoyed bicycling, camping, and spending time up north. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary; 2 sons, Anthony Basista of Flint, Michael Basista of Flushing; 5 grandchildren, Eric, Kerri, Bradley, Kimberly, Courtney; brothers, Jerry, and Bernie; sister, Marge; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Patrick in 2004. Special thanks to Briarwood staff especially, Debbie, Betty, Sharon, and Kelly.
