William Balfour

BALFOUR, William "Bill" Charles - age 90, of Flushing, formerly of Lake Fenton, passed away April 7, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at the Lake Fenton Moose Lodge on June 6, 2021. Bill was born September 13, 1930 in Detroit, the son of William Ramsey and Elsie (Patterson) Balfour. He grew up in Pentwater, MI and graduated from University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a Civil Engineering degree. Bill was a Korean War Army veteran stationed in Alaska as a medical technician. He married Paula Jeanne Davidson on April 10, 1954 and they were united in marriage for 60 years prior to her death on March 4, 2014. Bill was employed as the Highway Engineer for Genesee County Road Commission. After his retirement he consulted with several engineering firms. Bill lived on Lake Fenton for over 30 years and spent winters in Largo, FL after retirement. Surviving are: three children, John Balfour of Fenton, Ann (Tom) Curatti of Flushing, Rick (Roxanne) Balfour of Lowell; four grandchildren, Joshua Balfour, Cassie (Bob) Crosby, Alex Tiedeman, and Laura Tiedeman; two step-grandchildren, Taryn and Tessa Curatti; five great-grandchildren, Khyler Tiedeman, Sage Crosby, Thorton Tiedeman, Eva Crosby and Hazel Crosby; sister in law, Mary Parker (Joe Arnold). He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Balfour.
