Willem VILDERS, Sr.

February 22, 1931 — April 2, 2010

VILDERS, Willem Sr. - Age 79, of Holly, died April 2, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Karl Richter Campus, Special Services, 920 E. Baird St., Holly, MI 48442. Willem was born February 22, 1931 in in Amsterdam the son of Johannes Gerardus and Berta (DerHaag) Vilders. He served in the Dutch Army and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. Mr. Vilders retired from Chrysler with 45 years of service. He was the founder and former president of the Bromeliad Society. He had resided in Detroit most of his life, the last several years in Warren. Surviving are: children, Willem Jr. (Lesley) of Holly, Debra (Larry) Stuhrberg of Linden, Mark of Clinton Twp., Brian (Rasima), Scott (Stepania) all of Italy; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Han (Ans)of The Netherlands; special friend, Anne Kroll of Warren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Todd Vilders; sister, Carla Wijnberg. Very special thanks to Heartland Hospice for their kindness.
