Willard Dale HOWARD

HOWARD, Willard "Arkie" Sr. - Age 61, of Durand, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, September 12, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Elder Bill Maguffee will officiate. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Sunday and from 12 noon until the time of service Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to Swartz Creek Church of Christ or Genesys Hospice. Will was born in Laurence, Arkansas and moved to Michigan in 1968. He retired from the Flint V8 Engine Plant after 32 years of service. Arkie had many passions in life, which included spending time with his family, golfing and praising the Lord at the Swartz Creek Church of Christ. He was a true man of faith and family and was loved by many. Will is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joann; six children, Traynea Howard, Trainee Baker, Tammy Matyac (Chuck), Will Howard Jr., Trina Blakemore (Jeff), Dan Murphy (Mary); two brothers; two sisters; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl; father, Audie and two brothers. Special thanks to Chris from Genesys Hospice.
