Willard Hawkins

HAWKINS, Willard Lilburn "Bill", age 71, of Rapid River, died April 24, 2008 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held 1PM Tuesday, April 29 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.  Burial in Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris.  Visitation will be 5-8PM Monday and 12PM Tuesday until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Bill was born July 24, 1936 in Swartz Creek, the son of Ottis and Kathy (Moreland) Hawkins.  He lived in Rapid River the past 3 years, formerly from Haslett.  He married Sharon G. Collins on November 27, 1958 in Angola, IN.  Bill   retired from Operator Engineer's Local 324 (a member for over 50 years).  He graduated from Dye High School in 1954, attended Michigan State and East Tennessee State - playing football for both Universities.  Survived by wife, Sharon, 5 children; Londa Hawkins of Lansing, David Hawkins of Owosso, Rhonda (David) Hanes of Perry, Bob Hawkins of Lansing, Michael (Cindy) Hawkins of Lansing, 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 2 sisters; Wanda Yoder of Flint, Lucille Hawkins of Davison; 1 brother, Arnold (Esther) Hawkins of Florida; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents;  3 brothers; Calvin, Ed and Jim Hawkins and sister, Pauline Grice.  Friends may share on-line condolences at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
