Walter Eugene SHARPE

SHARPE, Walter Eugene (Gene) Age 98, was born August 7, 1910 in Big Rapids, Michigan and died March 17, 2009 in Linden. He worked for the postal service in Detroit for over forty years. He also retired from the US Navy Reserve at age 60 after serving in active duty during both World War II and Korea. After retiring from the post office, he worked for the Wayne County treasurers' office until he was 68. Gene married Alise Harris in Detroit June 6, 1941. Together they raised three children Barbara(Roger) Toonder of Fenton, John (Cheryl) Sharpe of Linden and Craig Sharpe of Linden. They traveled the world and loved to play cards and golf. Alise died in 2001. Gene is survived by his three children, seven grand children and five great-grandchildren. A service will be held at Tyrone Covenant Presbyterian Church, 10235 White Lake Road in Fenton Saturday, March 28 at 1 PM. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM Saturday until the time of service at the church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Lockwood of Fenton and Caretel Inn of Linden.
