MURDOCK, Walter Byron – Age 94, of Linden, formerly of Clio, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2023. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 30 in Linden, starting at 11:00 am. Contact the family for more details.
Walt was born in Flint, Michigan on February 17, 1929, the son of Barney and Jeanette Murdock. He was a 1947 graduate of Flint Central High School. He started his career with Bell Telephone at age 18 and then was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War, serving in the 2nd Armored Division, stationed in Germany. He returned to Bell Telephone and remained employed there until his retirement at age 62. He married Donna Woodrich on April 21, 1951. Together they raised a family of five, built a home, and were married for 69 years.
Walt was preceded in death by his beloved wife Donna; his parents; and his brother Bob Murdock. He is survived by his five children: Joyce Murdock, Jan (John) Hartranft, Steve (Barbara) Murdock, Julie Murdock (Ron Goff), and Patrick Murdock; nine grandchildren: Annie (Will) Gatziolis, Sean (Courtney) Brown, Ava Chatterson (Andrew Hutchison), Kyle Brown, Conner (Ashley) Murdock, Ryan (Lauren) Brown, Riley Murdock (fiancée Cristina Dittman), Travis Brown, and Hank Murdock; four great-grandchildren: Colton and McKenna Brown, Cora Gatziolis, and Maeve Brown; nephew Paul (Peg) Woodrich, niece Diane (Robert) Gale, and several other family members.
