Walter L. LEECH

September 2, 1921 — February 2, 2010

LEECH, The Honorable Walter L. - Age 88 of Durand, died February 2, 2010, at his home. A memorial service and interment will take place at the Great Lakes National Cemetery on May 5th, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Walter was born in Morenci, MI on September 2, 1921, son of the late William and Mabel (Dwyer) Leech. He proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Army during WWII. He attended Michigan State University and graduated from Drake University with his Juris Doctorate. After graduation he worked as a Special Agent in the FBI for 5 years. In 1958, he moved to Flint where he practiced law for 25 years and capped off his career as a Federal Administrative Law Judge. He retired to his farm and horses where he fully enjoyed the life of a gentleman farmer. He is survived by beloved wife of 58 years, Harriet (Jay); daughters, Stephanee Leech and Laurie Clawson (Patrick); granddaughters, Sal Spanier (Shane) and Blair Finney. Also survived by siblings Madelon (Ben) Van Riper, John (Jeanette) Leech, Bill (Joyce) Leech and many loving nieces and nephews as well as his little dog, Sisi. He was preceded in death by sisters, Amy, Garnet and Irene and brothers, Bob and Ray. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
