HARVEY, Walter Leslie, Jr. "Duckie" - age 94, of Fenton, formerly of Gaylord and Garden City, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, April 16, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Pastor Jerry Aston officiating. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home where a VFW memorial service will be held at 7 PM under the auspices of Fenton VFW Curtis Wolverton Post #3243. Interment will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Fenton VFW or the Arbor Meadows Community Church. Walter was born October 9, 1923 in Hurontown, MI in the Upper Peninsula, the son of Walter Leslie and Mary Irene (Little) Harvey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and was a Combat Engineer in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his discharge, he married the love of his life, Dorothy "June" Moyle on January 12, 1946. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2005 and he never stopped missing her. He resided in Garden City before retiring to Gaylord in 1982 after 31 years of service to Sharon Steel Corporation as an Electrician. Walter was a member of Gaylord United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Walter later moved to Fenton in the Mill Pond Manor and enjoyed his many friends and their coffee hours. Surviving are: two sons, Daniel (Brenda) Harvey of Pinckney, James (Denise) Harvey of South Lyon; daughter, Sheryl (Greg) Bonfiglio of Fenton; nine grandchildren, Daniel (Beth) Harvey, Jr., Kimberley (Karl) Ostrander, Edward (Paula) Harvey, Lisa Williamson, James (Beth) Harvey, Jr., Darren Harvey. Nicholas (Katy) Ploch, Timothy (Vanessa) Ploch, and Ryan (Bekah) Ploch; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his wife; brother, Charles Harvey; and sister, Doris Harvey. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
