HAJEC, Walter F. - Age 88, of Swartz Creek, formerly of Fenton, died April 10, 2021. Funeral Mass will be held 12 PM Friday, April 16, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Private burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11AM until the time of Mass Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Adopt-A-Pet, Fenton.
Walter was born March 18, 1933 in Manistee, Michigan, the son of Walter and Margaret Hajec. Walter was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in 1993 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton and St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek. He was an avid U of M Fan and enjoyed watching sports and Westerns. He enjoyed golfing and loved dogs. His family was his first priority. He loved to attend his kids' and grandkids' sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Karen; children, Theresa, Patrick, Gregory (Annette), Dan (Shannon), Kimberly (John) Raymond; grandchildren, Allison, Andrew, Dru, Trey, Brady, and Brendan; siblings, Pete, Bill (Sue), John (Pat), Jim (Laurie), Sue (Mike) Pushman, and Irene (Roger) Polidan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Leona and Betty; first wife, Mary Sue (Thornton) Hajec.
