Bringold, Wallace Carl "Wally"- Age 90, of New Baltimore, formerly of Reese, fell asleep in Christ on May 4, 2023, after a very full and active life. Services will be held 12 PM Monday, June 5 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc (the service may be viewed by livestream at Wally's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Visitation will be held 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home on Monday June 5. Committal service will be held 2 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 N. Belford Rd. Holly. Wally was born October 31, 1932 in Lansing, the son of Carl, and Daisy (Hileman) Bringold. He grew up in Harrison, and after graduating from high school, Wally proudly served his country in The United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Knox. He played quite a bit of softball, created some music, and while on leave one weekend, he met the love of his life, Verna May Spiekerman. He hitchhiked back and forth to Reese every weekend to see her, and three months later, on July 17, 1954 they were married. After settling in Reese, they had five children to complete their family. Wally was a salesman and general manager for 26 years with the Jewel Tea Company. He was so good at his job, that they kept bringing him back after retirement, to help train new employees. He enjoyed sales so much, that he worked several part-time sales jobs, before finally retiring for good to pursue his love of hunting, fishing, golfing, tennis, gardening, and playing cards or cribbage. There wasn't a sport he didn't like, or excel at! Wally loved making his venison stew, venison sausage, and of course his famous pork dish, and his strawberry shortcake, for family and friends. Deer often hung in the garage in the fall. His gardens always had corn, strawberries, and tomatoes. Golf balls were strewn in the breezeway, and his house was filled with laughter and “big fish” stories. There was a lot of love to go around in this exceptionally inviting home. Wally is survived by his wife, Verna; children, Carole Avery of Ohio, Cheryl (Gary) Law of Ortonville, Sue Corrigan (Mike Allen) of Ithaca, Mark (Suzy) Bringold of Reese; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and especially his 'favorite' nephew, David Navarro; also, his brother Willard "Wid" (Sharon) Bringold of Harrison. Wally is preceded in death by his son, Mike Bringold; parents; Carl and Daisy Bringold, and sister, Beatrice (Max) Howard. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to an Alzheimer's Research organization of your choice. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
