Virginia Marie Townsend

Townsend, Virginia Marie - Age 91, of Grand Blanc, died August 18, 2023. There will be no services held. She will be interred with her husband Melvin at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.  Those desiring may make contributions to Hurley Medical Center, Pediatric Services. Arrangements are being handled by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc.  

Virginia was born September 4, 1931 in Flint, the daughter of Carlton C. and Elizabeth (Ramsey) Richmond. Virginia was a 1950 graduate of Goodrich High School. She married Melvin Frank Townsend on October 25, 1952, he preceded her in death on February 13, 2014. Virginia worked at AC Spark Plug and also was a Mary Kay Consultant. 

She is survived by her children, Gary (Colleen) Townsend, Kathy McElyea; grandchildren, Ann Townsend, Kelly Townsend, Rebecca Townsend (Baron), Kathryn Townsend, Jonathon (Heather) Townsend, Brian (Suzie) Townsend, Ryan McElyea (Jane), Ashley (Colin) Witbrodt; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Daxton, Parker, and Otto; sisters, Janice (Richard) Kodat, Marilyn Dingo, Betty (Robert) French, Linda Thick, and Carol Thick; sisters-in-law, Fay Richmond, Barb Richmond; brother-in-law, Robert Tolbert. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Michael on January 23, 2014; parents Carlton Richmond and Elizabeth Richmond; stepmother who raised her Vera B. (Silvernail) Richmond. brothers, Carlton, James, William, Gerald, Robert, Donald, Richard; sisters, Mary Young, Donna Dingo, Norma Tolbert, and Dorothy Collins.
