THOMAS, Virginia Rose - Age 87, of Swartz Creek, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint. Fr. Pierre Bassil celebrant. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Monday from 2-8 PM and at church Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. A Incense service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contribution to Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Carriage Town Ministries.
Virginia was born December 27, 1935 in Flint, the daughter of George W. and Rose Marie (Guarascio) Joseph. She was a 1953 graduate of All Saints Catholic High School in Flint. She married Louis O. Thomas September 5, 1953 in Flint and he preceded her in death November 11, 1995. She retired from Powers Catholic High School in Flint after 36 years of service as the "Lunch Lady". Virginia was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. She loved cooking, going to the casinos, playing bingo and most of all spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Surviving are: her children, Robin Rose Thomas of Bakersfield, CA, Raymond Louis Thomas of Swartz Creek, Virginia Rose "GiGi" (Jim) Oros of Montrose, and Diana Rose Auch (Kirk Crafts) of Montrose; grandchildren, Rachael (Julio) Franco, Jamie Lynn Oros (Jason Sanders), Dustin Oros, Grant Auch, Andrew Auch, Heather Thomas, Lucas Auch, Emily Thomas, Jordan (Gina) Vinton, Joshua (Hortence) Oros, Adri Auch and Robert Oros; and several great grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren; sister, Louise Iaquinto of Flushing; and brother, George Danny Joseph of Mt. Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, William H. Thomas; daughter, Donna Rose Thomas; grandson, Casey Thomas; brother, Raymond Joseph; and sister, Patsy Joseph.
