Virginia P. Wood

WOOD, Virginia P., “Padie”, formerly of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on December 3rd in Flushing, MI at the age of 100. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas (Tom) A. Wood, the devoted mother of Mike Erdmann of Winterhaven, FL and Dawn Schmidt (Rick) of Flushing, MI. She was the loving grandmother of Jason Erdmann (Keisha), Michelle Akers (Dean), Elizabeth Held (Brandon), Erik Schmidt (Pam) and Kathleen Polk (David). She was the proud great grandmother of eight.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Lloyd Duncan; her husband Thomas A. Wood; stepson Tom Wood and stepdaughter Cecilia Katz and many friends and relatives. Padie moved to Wauwatosa, WI in 1947 and in 1960 to Elm Grove, WI. Shortly thereafter, she and the family began attending Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI. It was there where her faith grew, initially under pastor Bob Hobson and later Stuart and Jill Briscoe, all of whom were very instrumental in her life.  She was active in the women’s ministry, neighborhood group, Prayer and Share, Purity with Action and the senior’s ministry. She had a desire to share her faith with family and friends, with many becoming believers. Padie was a woman of prayer, always interceding on behalf of family and friends. Padie lived most of her life alone after the passing of her husband and was self-reliant and independent. She drove until the age of 90 when her son Mike moved in with her and cared for her for six years. She moved to her daughter’s house in Flushing, Mi in 2018. In 2022. At the age of 99, she moved to Western Hills Living. We are grateful for the loving care she received there for the past 19 months. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10 from 3:00 PM, until time of service at 4:00 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Private interment will be held In Milwaukee, WI. Memorial contributions can be made to Samaritans Purse or Operation Blessing, two organizations she supported.
