Virginia Eileen McNIE

McNIE, Virginia Eileen, "Ginny" age 95, of Linden, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Rev. Don Neuville officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Linden Presbyterian Church. Virginia was born July 30, 1914 in Highland Park the daughter of the late Emmett O. and Laura L. (Stetler) Leeth. She married Arthur S. McNie on April 11, 1933 in Detroit, and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1986. Virginia was a graduate of Highland Park High School and had lived in Linden since 1947. She had been employed by Linden Community Schools for 20 years, as a bookkeeper, until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Linden Presbyterian Church. In 1990, Virginia was selected as the Linden Summer Happening Grand Marshall in recognition of her dedication to the Linden Community. Surviving are her 2 daughters, Carol Anderson (Edwin) of Linden, Geraldine Estes of Linden; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Yeo of Detroit, Leah Date of St. Petersburg, FL. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Smith in 2002 and son-in-law, Isaac Smith in 2001; 3 grandsons, Eddie Anderson, Richard Foley and James Foley.
