Virginia Digard

October 21, 1931 — August 14, 2020

DIGARD,  Virginia Grace - 88, of Swartz Creek died August 14, 2020. Virginia was born and raised in Hale, MI, the daughter of John and Marie (Boyer) Webb. After graduating from Hale High School she worked for General Motors for over a year to pay for college. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University in 1954. She traveled across the country with 3 girlfriends in her new 1954 Ford, camping in many National Parks. Upon returning to teach Home Economics in Hale, she married  Stanley “Jack” Digard in 1956, a widower. A marriage that would last 63 years. They raised Jack’s 3 yr old daughter, Jackie (McGuire) along with their two sons, Sam Digard currently of Portland, Oregon and Jeffrey Digard of Flushing, MI. Surviving also are 3 grandchildren, Samantha Digard, Alec Digard and Carl Riley Marget; brothers David (Lois) Webb of Sun City, AZ and John (Kay) Webb of Hale, sister Charlotte (David) Thuemmel of Port Austin, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Schwoebell and Rosemarie Barnum. Virginia taught high school in Grand Blanc, the Bendle Community School systems, and did consulting work for the Flint School system. Virginia was the foundation of the family and actively labored as they built four houses and maintained several rental properties. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and very active in UMW. She and Jack summered in Hale and wintered in Sun City, AZ for over 30 years. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity or United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek.
