Virginia Carswell

Carswell, Virginia Mildred "Ginger" (Eaglen) age 87, of Fenton, died May 3, 2018. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Sharp Funeral Home, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint, on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Visitation begins at 12 PM with service at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Ginger was born on November 14, 1930 in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of David and Mildred (Wells) Eaglen. She married her loving husband Frank D. Carswell Sr. on December 2, 1946. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2002 after 55 years of marriage. Ginger was a devoted wife and mother who served as a volunteer caring for the elderly at various hospitals and nursing homes. Her many interests included literature, poetry, swing-dancing, music, bowling, fishing, and gourmet cooking. Ginger and Frank Sr. were founding members of the exclusive Traveling Gourmets Dining Club. Ginger's book of poetry is published in the Library of Congress under her pen name G. Carswell. Survivors include five children: Juanita (Bob) Singer of Chesaning, Linda Stillman of Croswell, Frank Jr.(Eva) of Fenton, Thomas (Molly) of Rochester Hills, Shelly (Jim) Johnson of Rochester Hills; son-in-law, Jim Rigdon of Grand Blanc; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Buterakos and Marlene Greagor; sister-in-law, Shirley Oisted and lifelong friend, Virginia Hill. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Frank D. Carswell Sr.; daughter, Diane Rigdon; grandson, Rob Singer and sister Juanita Barger.
