Virginia Carmody

CARMODY, Virginia Sue - age 81, of Fenton, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 31, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Rev. Robbie Carnes and Fr. David Harvey co-officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Fenton. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Virginia was born on July 15, 1937 in Detroit, the daughter of Wesleyan and Ruth (Bowman) Voigt. She graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1955 and attended Wayne State University and Michigan State University. Virginia married Patrick J. Carmody on June 27, 1964, in West Bloomfield and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2016. She retired from Citizens Bank in 2000 as the Executive Secretary to the President and CEO. She also worked with well know architects, Minoru Yamasaki (Twin Towers) and Eero Saarinen (St. Louis Arch). Virginia was an active volunteer with the local school system and Brownies, and was a member of Fenton First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are: daughter, Bridget Ann Ross of Grand Blanc; son, Kevin (Megan) Carmody of Western Springs, IL; five grandchildren, Alexander, Samantha, John, Matthew and Elle; brother, Kent (Terrie) Voigt.
