Virgina 'Jean' Perkin

PERKIN, Virginia Jean (Ervin)  Age 87, of Flint, died Monday, March 8, 2004 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Katherine Penney officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Saginaw New Life Church of the Nazarene, 1278 S. Center, Saginaw, MI 48603. Mrs. Perkin was born January 15, 1917 in Gideon, MO, the daughter of Loney and Bertha (Garner) Spears. She has resided in Flint since 1927. She married Thomas G. Ervin on April 21, 1934 in Flint and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1976. She then married John W. Perkin on May 8, 1982 and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2000. Surviving are: son, Melvin Ervin and wife, Kaye of Chesaning; three daughters, Dolores and husband, Russ Cornack of Durand, Ellen and husband, Jerry Draper of Freeland, Pamela and husband, Rusty Bradford of TN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sadie Buck of Tucson, AZ, Shirley Spears of Flint; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Leroy and Morris Spears; three sisters, Violet Hendricks, Jesse Cole, Louise McClellan.
