Violet Rosalie Rodgers

RODGERS, Violet Rosalie - Age 89, of Flint, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at home, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Chaplain Jack Eagan will officiate. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Monday, 12-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or Brian's House. Violet was born January 4, 1920 in Herrin, IL, the daughter of Edward and Rosa McFadden. She was married to Jess Rodgers, who preceded her in death on October 5, 1986. She was an extremely loving mother and grandmother. Violet enjoyed spending her time with family; they were everything to her, just as she was everything to them. Surviving are: children, Dorothy (Bill) Pettigrew of Swartz Creek, Donna (Dave) Gibbs of Desert Hot Springs, CA, Gary (Judy) Rodgers of Flint, Diane (Bill) Early of Flint, Bonnie (Bob) Campbell of Swartz Creek, Marilyn (Rick) Pifer of Grand Blanc; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Dell Rodgers. She was preceded in death by her sons, J.D. brothers, Bud and John; sisters, Beulah and Goldie; granddaughter, Jamie; great-granddaughter, Avery; great-grandson, Colin.
