Eible Jr., Vincent James, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025. A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will take place on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Father David Harvey will officiate, and the family invites all to join in remembering a life well-lived. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
Vince was born on August 6th, 1937, in Montclair, New Jersey, to Sadie and Vincent Eible Sr. He grew up with his sister, Carole, and cherished his childhood in New Jersey. Vince was a talented young man with a love for both sports and music. He played high school basketball, proudly earning a New Jersey State Title in 1953, and he was the leader of his high school jazz band, sharing his gift for the trumpet. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1955 and went on to attend Colgate University, where he found his passion for business and finance. His thirst for knowledge led him to earn an MBA from the University of Michigan, setting the foundation for a long and successful career.
Vince’s life was forever changed when he met his high school sweetheart, Louise in 1954 and married on September 27th, 1959. Together, they built a life raising their three children-Vince III, Ron, and Debra. Vince and Louise celebrated 65 years of marriage this past September, a testament to their deep and lasting bond.
Vince’s career began at General Motors, where he joined the manager training program after graduating from Colgate. His journey took him from Flint, Michigan, to Los Angeles, California, where he became plant manager in 1971. Vince returned to Michigan in 1977 to continue his work with GM Service Parts, holding various leadership positions, including East Coast Area Director and Director of Product Development, before retiring in 1998. His career was marked by dedication, integrity, and a relentless commitment to excellence.
Retirement, for Vince, was not the end of his giving spirit. He immersed himself in his community, a passion he originally developed as part of the Flint Jaycees in the 1960’s. His involvement with the Lake Fenton School Board, Lake Fenton Community Schools Foundation, The Loose Center of Linden, Family Service Agency of Mid-Michigan, The Literacy Network of Flint, and Fenton Area Rotary was a natural extension of his desire to make a difference. Vince’s love of life extended to Spring Meadows Country Club, where he served as past president and enjoyed countless rounds of golf with friends. He was also an avid fisherman, savoring the peaceful moments spent on the waters of Lake Fenton.
Vince’s heart was full of pride and love for his family. He leaves behind his children, Vince III (Annita Avila), Ron (Karen Eible), and Debra (Kenneth Schweighofer). He was also a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren-Kristen, Matthew, Tyler, Brandon, Andrew, Alexander, Allison, Kayden, Landon, and Austin-and four great-grandchildren-Griffen, Gibson, Grayson, and Everett. Vince’s love for his family knew no bounds. He was their biggest cheerleader whether it was supporting their activities, advising on that new car purchase, offering investment advice, or guiding them through life’s other important decisions. Grandpa was always there offering wisdom, support, and encouragement.
Vince’s sense of humor and passion for life were matched only by his devotion to his beloved New York Yankees. His favorite saying, “More wine and fresh horses for my men!” would always bring a smile, but it was hearing the roar of “The Yankees win! The Yankees win… TTHHEEE YANKEES WIN!!!” that truly made his heart sing. His “Yankee Man Cave” was his sanctuary, where he cheered on his team, wearing his favorite Yankee hat and wrapped in his Yankee blanket.
The family is deeply grateful to the compassionate caregivers at Jordan River Health Campus and the Baptist Medical Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee, for their kindness and care. In honor of Vince's life, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan in lieu of flowers.
Vince will be missed beyond words-by his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and love. Tributes and memories may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
