Born on August 14, 1931, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of Arthur and Frances (Sommer) Spiekerman. Verna was one of nine children. She grew up and graduated from Saginaw High School. Soon after completing her education, she married Wallace Bringold, who would hitchhike from his Army station in Ft Knox, KY to be with her almost every weekend. Together, Wally and Verna made their home in Reese, MI, where they raised five children: the late Michael Bringold, and Carole Avery, Cheryl Law, Sue Corrigan, and Mark Bringold.
She was a homemaker. Verna was the town's seamstress, making wedding dresses, leisure suits. She was magic with sewing, knitting and crocheting. Verna was very active in the church and involved with her family. Verna's life was defined by her deep faith and commitment to serving others. She was a dedicated member of her church, attending Sunday services, singing in the choir, and volunteering at the church's thrift store for many years. When not at church, she enjoyed walking, gardening, solving puzzles, and pursuing her hobbies of collecting coins and stamps. Verna also worked full-time at Agrico for nearly a decade.
Verna's greatest joy was her family. She poured her love into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, offering unwavering support and care to each of them throughout her life.
Verna is survived by her children: Carole Avery of Ohio, Cheryl (Gary) Law of Ortonville, Sue Corrigan (Mike Allen) of Ithaca, and Mark (Suzy) Bringold of Reese; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, including her 'favorite' nephew, David Navarro, and her best friend since childhood Lucy Markhart.
