Verelle M. Johnson

JOHNSON,  Verelle M., age 69 of Flint Twp., died at McLaren Regional Medical Center, Tuesday, January 31, 2006.  Mrs. Johnson was born in Red Oak, Iowa on March 28, 1936 the daughter of Quincy and Myrtle (Nelson) Johnson and she has lived in the Flint area since 1958.  She graduated from high school in Essex, Iowa and later attended and graduated from  Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.  Mrs. Johnson was a music teacher in Flint area school districts.  She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was minister of music for several years.  She was a member of the American Guild of Organists and the American Choiristers Guild. Mrs. Johnson also taught piano for many years.  Surviving is her husband Richard W. Johnson; two daughters; Dawn Johnson and husband Dr. Barry Miller of Flint, Amy Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; a brother, Phillip Johnson and wife Jean in Iowa, many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Donovan Johnson.  Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 3, 2006 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. (Just South of Hill Rd.)  Pastor Roger  R. Kilponen will officiate.   Services will conclude at the funeral home.  The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 1 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. Thursday and Friday from 10 A.M . to service time.  Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Augustana College C/O 639 38th St., Rock Island, Illinois 61201-2296.  Friends may share online condolences or post tributes at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
