Maxine Sharon

SHARON, Velma Maxine - age 98 of Swartz Creek, died November 6, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint with Rev. Fr. Anthony Strouse celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023, at St. Pius X Catholic Church where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church. Velma (most called her Maxine) was born August 16, 1925, in Kennett, MO, the daughter of Claude C. and Florence (Howes) Smith. She married Ward J. Sharon in Flint on December 6, 1947, and he preceded her in death bon July 12, 2004. Maxine had worked at various movie candy counters and at AC Spark Plug during the War. She loved to bowl and once scored a 298 and enjoyed traveling with her family. Surviving are: two children, Teresa Sharon of Swartz Creek and Thomas (Linda) Sharon of Flint Twp; three grandsons, Jason (Katrina), Brian (LeAnne) and Eric. She was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; brother, Bobby Joe; and two sisters, Juanita and Julia "Judy".
