Velma Ilene Haut

Haut, Velma I. Age 96, died Monday July 17, 2023. Memorial service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1805 Lapeer Road, Flint, MI  48503-4076, Sean Hart officiating. A Zoom link will also be provided. Velma was born in Flint, (Russellville) Michigan on July 2, 1927. She began employment at the age of 12 with various jobs and then with AC in 1946. Velma married Lawrence E. Haut on December 25, 1948. They were happily married for over 61 years. She enjoyed being a loving and supportive wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an excellent caregiver, caring for her mother-in-law and husband in the home as they each suffered through life-ending Alzheimer’s. Velma was an accomplished seamstress her entire life beginning at the age of 9. She started a family business named Fashions by Velma and included her daughter Sherry in the business for a number of years. She never stopped sewing. She was most recently a member of the Davison Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, having been an active member of a number of Flint area congregations over the last 75 years. She used much of her time in the Christian ministry helping others to learn about, love, and worship their heavenly father Jehovah. Surviving are sister, Audrey Wickham of Flint, sister-in-law Ruth Haut of Lima, Peru; children, James (Mari) of Palmyra, Maine; David (Robin) and granddaughter Kenzie of Swartz Creek; Sherry (Norman) Jayne of Lapeer; Daniel (Darcy) of Fenton and granddaughter Jordan, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
