Velma Valata "Val" Guerrier

GUERRIER, Velma Valata, "Val", age 91, of Tennessee, formerly of Flint / Fenton, died Monday, January 14, 2008 in Tennessee. Funeral Services will be 1PM Friday, January 18, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 2-5 and 7-9PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Val was born July 26, 1916 in Baldwin, Michigan the daughter of Paul G. and Eva M. (VanVliet) Durphy. She married Donald Guerrier on December 5, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1964. Val was employed by the City of Flint and retired as a Deputy City Clerk in 1977. Surviving are her companion for 29 years, Paul J. Riegle of Tennessee; 3 daughters, Sharon Moon (Wayne) of Goodlettsville, TN, Cheryl Block (Clifford) of Fenton, Terry Taylor (Dave) of Fenton; 6 grandchildren, Donald Eaton (Kelly), Sherri McElhaney (Craig), Christine Rinehart (James), Clifford Block (Cheryl), Cortney Ragnone (Steve), Valerie Matusiak; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 1 niece, Muriel Twigg (Gerald).
