BERGER, Velma Esther - Age 95, of Burton, died Saturday, January 1, 2022. A private graveside service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Velma was born August 18, 1926 in Linden, the daughter of Robert and Florence (Lee) Wykes. She was a 1944 graduate of Linden High School. She married Charles Elmer Berger February 20, 1948 in Linden and he preceded her in death March 7, 2014. She had resided in Burton since 1955 coming from Holly/Linden. Velma was a volunteer at South Bendle Elementary School and was a member of the PTA and Band Boosters. She also was a Girl Scout Leader.

Surviving are: her daughter, Margaret (Dennis) Donahue of Grand Blanc; son, Charles (Sonya) Berger of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Bruce Willoughby, Angela Willoughby, Michael (Rachael) Donahue, Charles Berger, Alexander (Joy) Berger, and Ben (Beth) Berger; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harry, Stuart, and Russell Wykes; and sister, Gwendolyn Richards. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
