Van Barron

August 29, 1935 — December 4, 2020

BARRON, Van Dorn - age 85, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Friday, December 4, 2020 in Flint, Michigan.  Mr. Barron is survived by his brother, Robert and Catherine Barron of Montrose, MI, son, Doug and Heidi Barron of Smyrna, GA, daughters, Kathy and Rick Book of Fishers, IN, Chris and Matt Kittel of Grand Blanc, MI, and Mary Doty of Flint MI. Grandchildren, Tyler Barron (Liam), Kayla Jacobs, Scott Willison (Chelsea), Brian Willison, Chase Barron, Brooke Barron, Molly Doty.  Great grandchildren, Kendall, Lacey, Paige and Ruby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Donna Barron, his parents, Perry and Lacy Barron, sisters, Delores and Al Green, Carrie Wisner, brothers, LaFay and Joanne Barron, and Charles Barron.

Van was born on August 29, 1935 in Manila, AR and graduated from Utley High School in 1954.  He married the love of his life, Donna, on February 2, 1957.

He served in the US Air Force, stationed in Korea and Ellsworth AFB.  He attended Flint Junior College and General Motors Institute.  He worked for General Motors Parts Division (Otterburn) for 35 years.  He was a member of the Carman-Ainsworth (Utley) High School Athletic Hall of Fame.  Upon retiring, he and Donna split time between Michigan and Florida and enjoyed the snowbird lifestyle.  Over the years, Van enjoyed bowling, shuffleboard, woodworking, coin collecting, fishing, hunting, history, and most of all, spending time with family.  A memorial service and interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery will be planned for a future date.  Sharp Funeral Home and Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473 will be handling arrangements.
