NELSON, Troy L. - Age 78, of Okemos formerly of Argentine Twp., died Thursday, October 8, 2009 in Okemos. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, October 12, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Road, Gaines. Fr. Robert McKeon celebrant. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Sunday from 3-5 PM, where a vigil service will be held at 5:00 PM; and at church Monday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund. Troy was born October 26, 1930 in Monette, AR, the son of James and Georgia (Mijett) Nelson. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He married Lila Vogel September 30, 1983. Troy retired from MTA in 1995 after 30 years of service. He had resided in Okemos since 2004 coming from Argentine Twp. Surviving are: wife, Lila; 3 stepsons, Donald and wife Margaret Crim of Davison, Douglas and wife Bonnie Crim of Haslett and David and wife Tammy Crim of Haslett; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Michelle, Julianna, Zach, Joseph and Ali.
