Timothy (Tim) Patrick Murphy of Canton, Michigan, one of eleven Irish Catholic children of the late Leo and Bernice (Larsen) Murphy, passed away on October 6th, 2024 after a long battle with asbestosis. In accordance with Tim's wishes, cremation has taken place and a committal service, with Military Honors, will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery located at 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan.
Tim is survived by two siblings, Judy (Mike) Barry and Kathy (Max)Wierzbinski and his beloved wife, Audrey Bernette Connolly. Tim delighted in his many adoring nieces and nephews always swept up in the joyful times he spent with his siblings' families. Audrey's adult children, Patrick (Pam), Vicki (Steve) and Garrick had a special bond of love and affection with Tim. That same unbreakable bond existed between Tim and Audrey's brother, Clark Connolly.
Tim, a Navy Veteran, proudly served his country in Vietnam as a sailor aboard the USS Frank E Evans, between 1964 and 1968, luckily surviving Tet in 1968. After serving, Tim attended Wayne State University in 1973 and graduated from Wayne State's School of Law in 1975. Tim was an accomplished trial lawyer for 35 years.
Before Tim contracted asbestosis, he was an inveterate golfer, and he and Audrey traveled the United States and Europe golfing at some of the world's best courses. Tim often said, "I've lived a wonderful life. My three great loves, Audrey, golf and the law, have filled me with joy and anticipation every day".
