CONN, Thurman P. - Â of Fenton, age 59, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2006. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton on Saturday, January 28 from 6pm to 9pm and Sunday, January 29 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Fenton at 11am on Monday, January 30. Thurman was a proud native of Tazewell, VA, where many of his dearest friends and family still reside. He moved to Fenton in 1964 and graduated from Fenton High School in 1965. Thurman patriotically served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. Thurman valued time with his family and loved them dearly. A member of First Baptist Church for nearly 40 years, he enjoyed classic hymns and playing the piano. Since retiring from General Motors in 2004, Thurman worked on his 1968 Corvette, traveled and learned the game of golf. Thurman is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his four children: Eric Conn, wife Sheryl and children Chelsea and Alli of Fenton; April Parillo, husband Mark and children Ben, Jake and Andrew of Clarkston; Sarah Styf and husband Dan of Vienna, VA; and Katie Conn of Chicago, IL; and wife Carols three children Sara Sharp of San Antonio, TX; Brent Sharp and wife Sabrina of Fenton; and Cari Sharp and daughter Madison of Flint. Thurman was one of 13 children born to the late William and Artha Conn. He was preceded in death by siblings Russell, Clinton, Clifford, Walker and Alicia Conn. He is survived by brothers Buford, Adron and Ben Conn and sisters Dorothy Herald, Shirley Bowling, Phyllis Rodriguez and Patricia Fisher.
